MoonPay expands services in Wisconsin

Regulators have issued our Money Transmitter License.

By Geoffrey Lyons

We’re pleased to announce that the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions has granted MoonPay a Money Transmitter License.

Wisconsin residents can now enjoy full functionality to top up their MoonPay Balance, which lets users deposit funds to their account for zero MoonPay fee purchases.*

“At MoonPay, we’re forging a compliant, consumer-first path to unlocking crypto for users all over the world,” said MoonPay’s co-founder and CEO, Ivan Soto-Wright. “Earning our Wisconsin MTL strengthens our position in the market as a fully-regulated platform, and further solidifies our commitment to iron-clad compliance.”

Wisconsin, known for its strong agricultural roots and growing tech scene, ranks as the 20th most populous state in the U.S. Last year it became the first U.S. state to buy Bitcoin.

A Money Transmitter License authorizes a company to provide money transmission services in a state. With the addition of Wisconsin, MoonPay's proactive approach to compliance has earned us 46 MTLs, allowing us to operate in diverse markets across the U.S.

*Zero MoonPay fees. Ecosystem and network fees still apply.
